“HOW CAN EMPTINESS BE SO HEAVY?”

What is the weight of something that is empty? You’ll be like, it is nothing, nada. Right.
No my friend, sometimes emptiness weighs more than one can withstand. Now tell me what is the weight of an idea, a hope, a fear or a feeling left unshared? They have no mass yet they weigh so heavily on our spirit, body and mind.

Define emptiness? If you google it right now you’ll find numerous definitions of emptiness but there is no straight answer to it. The correct definition is what you feel and what you have experienced. It can be by a desire to attain what is unattainable or it can be a distinction between the way things appear to be and the way they actually are or it can be a feeling of not being a “whole” or so many more.

If I have to define emptiness then it is a neutral state, a space between thoughts, something that is inscrutable, a feeling that something is missing, but not being able to figure out what it is. What as in maybe A person- who once was, now isn’t, A thing- that once was, now isn’t, Some feelings- which once were, now aren’t or maybe all these at the same time.
Have you ever experienced that in a room full of people you are still feeling lonely or while doing your favorite activity comes a moment that you just don’t want to do it anymore. All this is because of the void created inside us that pulls us back into nothingness. And that void is built due to the defense mechanism when we don’t want to feel the pain or emotions from an event, a loss or a trauma.

An Arabic line I read somewhere.

People who go around with the brightest smile you’ve ever seen, saying I feel nothing, no emotion, in reality they are feeling each and every emotion to an extent that it is breaking them down day by day. And when everything just gets overboard it takes every ounce of that willpower that’s left inside of them to not cry there and then.

Now, some people get out of this emptiness when they start engaging with a lot of different people, indulging in a new hobby, exploring different genres of music and start getting to know their true self and investing in self-love.
But not necessarily all can do it. Some just accept the fact that this void is going to be there always and they get used to it. They become habitual of it. Every once in a while they fall into this dark hole of emptiness where they feel nothing, want to do nothing, say nothing and listen to nothing. In order to break out of this shit-cycle of going into that hole and coming back, one should address the issue why that void is created inside them.
It’s the only way to beat the emptiness.
